Barbera d'Asti Doc Superiore NIZZA

Grape variety: Barbera 100%

Vineyard: The “Nizza” vineyard is located in Incisa Scapaccino at the Estate. Its yield is 45/50 quintals per hectare.

Tasting notes: Deep purple wine. The nose is rich and complex perfumed with red berry fruits that are peculiar to this grape variety. The palate is firm and full but balanced, and the finish is persistent and enticing.

Vinification: Grapes from the Nizza vineyard are selected by hand between the first and second week of October; that same evening they are squeezed and poured into stainless steel vats and left to undergo alcoholic fermentation at controlled temperature. After the first fermentation is completed, juice is poured into French oak barriques and left there for refinement for 15 months. In July, after bottling, it is left to refine in bottle for at least 1 year.

Created during the vintage of the year 2000, the "Nizza" Subzone comprises 18 small communities of Monferrato. The wine that boats this appellation must be exclusively produced from grapes grown on vineyards located in this district and whose favourable exposure has been approved. The production of this wine occurs only when a year is considered to be “a good vintage”.
