The Matsui is Kurayoshi Distillery's line of exceptional Single Malt. The range also includes a whiskey-based Umeshu.
The Matsui Sakura Cask is a Single Malt distilled by Kurayoshi Distillery, located in Tottori Prefecture. The Matsui Single malt is aged in Sakura casks, the famous and iconic Japanese cherry tree. This tree holds an important place in Japanese culture, often used as a metaphor to underline the ephemeral nature of beauty but also of life. It has always been a source of inspiration for Japanese artists. Double distilled in Pot Still and then aged in Sakura casks in Tottori Prefecture, in a natural environment conducive to aging, this whisky is then reduced with natural spring water from Mount Daisen. A masterpiece carefully crafted with heart and passion by the Matsui team!

The Matsui Single Malt Whisky Mizunara Cask - Numbered Bottles
Japanese Single Malt Whisky / 70cl / 43%
The Matsui - Mizunara Cask, is a Single Malt distilled by Kurayoshi Distillery, located in Tottori Prefecture. This whisky is aged in Mizunara oak casks. Mizunara wood is as famous for its rarity as for its complexity to be worked. Today, Mizunara casks represent only 10% of the stock of aged whiskies in Japan. Its intrinsic qualities and the aromas it transmits are recognized by Japanese whisky lovers for its unique character. This oak takes 200 to 300 years to mature, it brings exceptional aromatic qualities. This variety of oak is found only in the forests of Hokkaido and the Tohoku region, north of Honshu. The Mizunara brings a honeyed woodiness that coats the whisky and brings an elegant length specific to this ageing.

The San-In Blended Whisky

The San-In is the blended whiskey range from Kurayoshi Distillery. It is composed of two references.
Aged for 3 years in American White Oak new barrels. This barrel aging has imbued The San-In Blended Japanese Whisky with vanilla and fruity notes, leaving a pear taste on the finish. The town of Kurayoshi is located in Tottori Prefecture, in western Japan. Surrounded by countryside, the area is full of pure water, generously supplied by snowfall on the Daisen Mountain range. The annual temperature is high and contributes effectively to the aging of the whisky. The pure underground water of the Daisen Mountain provides a smooth and mellow taste to this light and refreshing whisky.Only 6 casks available for Europe in 2024.
