With its 24 hectares in one piece, the terroir of the property has a beautiful homogeneity and a privileged location. Co-planted with 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, this Grand Cru Classé first draws its personality from the very quality of the soil: clay-limestone to the north of the estate and gravelo-silicious to the south. Very rich dark berries and plums with an attractive and deep, fresh-fruit edge. The palate has a very smooth, fresh and sweetly fruited core with ripe, plush and approachable tannins.
Château Croizet-Bages Pauillac Grand Cru Classé
65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 13.5%, 75cl
2017 was a challenging vintage, demanding uncompromising technical skill from the team. Although the vineyard located near the Gironde estuary was damaged by the frost at the end of April, the most beautiful parcels of Château Croizet-Bages were spared. The nice weather during the summer allowed the vines to retake their normal vegetative cycle until an early harvest, starting with Merlot on September 8 and ending with Cabernet Sauvignon on September 29. With the blend it reveals all the power of a great Pauillac through a wine that expresses great elegance and refinement.
